Objectives
1. To promote an equal access to TICs for all the inhabitants of Extremadura. So that they become active protagonists in the changes society is experimenting, and their contributions, ideas and points of view about their sociopolitical and cultural environment are taken into account. 2. To foster a knowledge data base of the region. NCC Journal wants to be a valuable experiment of communication of popular culture, events and experiences which would go unnoticed for the greatest part of the Extremenian society. 3. To ease the creation of a new space for social and virtual meeting. Promoting collaborative nets, starting virtual contacts between individuals, entities and organizations led by similar identities and common, alike objectives. 4. To encourage the constitution of technical, collaborating and volunteer teams. To spread and globalize the digital literacy on the whole society and in all the localities of Extremadura, thanks to the compromise and participativiness of the visitors of the New Knowledge Centres.

- Number of article uploaded since the beginnings of the project in the year 2000 is 3,500, concerning current issues, events, sports, editorials, employment, environment and opinion.- There is a weekly average of 40 published news bits,and about 128 per month.- The total number of users that have participated of the project is 250 persons.

Development
This strategic intervention has come developing through the Plan developed by the Consejería de Educación, Ciencia y Tecnología de la Junta de Extremadura and the Asociación Regional de Universidades Populares de Extremadura, with the participation of City councils and Associations of Neighbors of each one of the towns where the net of thirty two New Centers of the Knowledge is located (NCC) in the Region.
