Culture and identity
ICT can contribute towards cultural transfer and the sustaining and strengthening of cultural identity in its widest sense, with particular attention to minority languages and cultures.
A learning society should make special efforts to turn its history, customs, languages, values, peculiarities and differences into information and to spread this information, taking advantage of the revolution in information and communication technologies.
The new reality is encouraging diversity and the promotion of cultures considered to be minorities - ethnic, religious, cultural and intellectual minorities - in an environment where the potential audience is not limited to discoverers of rare and picturesque editions, but which includes the number of people connected to the Internet.
One illustrative example is the case of minority languages. The Internet is a threat and at the same time an opportunity to protect and promote these languages.
